A note from Bob

Dear friends,

I have just gone through a six month confrontation with colon cancer.  With the guidance and practice of good medical care and Mary Anne’s home care I’ve stepped off that particular carousel and am back working in the studio and tending to spring yard work.

I’ve been grateful for the work of Keith and Carole, Charmian and Vin in keeping the Granville Island shop up and running.  It seems that while I was getting off my ride the whole world was engaging in another unprecedented one.  The medical stuff I went through—-like 18 days in the local hospital and the baffling life with an iliostomy apparatus was made bearable by an avalanche of kindness offered to Mary Anne and I from a multitude of sources, from relatives and nurses to near strangers and friends who arrived to deliver meals and tidy up the autumn detritus.

Like most craftsmen/women I’ll be doing the self-isolation polka thing we’ve all done as we work [usually alone] in workshops around the province— wishing to see an end to this moment of madness.

I hope, with Mary Anne, to be back on Granville Island before too long and would welcome any notes friends or complete strangers would wish to send by e-mail or snail mail.

Cheers,

Bob.

Thanks so much for your 'blog', Bob

Great to 'hear' that voice coming through:

who would have dreamt we'd be here like this?
